Curriculum and Instruction, Master of Arts
Overview
The Curriculum and Instruction program offers a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction – Teaching in Diverse Communities degree. The curriculum objectives for this program all center around the conceptual framework of meeting the needs of diverse learners. While the degree does have a general focus of curriculum and instruction, the more specific emphasis area of teaching in diverse communities is what really sets this degree apart from any of its peer programs. The objectives for the program are as follows:
- To articulate a meaningful understanding of meeting the needs of diverse populations in schools.
- To identify specific strategies and approaches that assist diverse learners and aid in their success.
- To determine effective strategies for working with diverse communities and demonstrate ways to create meaningful partnerships with community members.
- To use proven research methods regarding curriculum and instruction research as it pertains to diverse communities.
