This course will provide an analysis of each Domain and Standards of the Core test needed to become initially certified. An analysis of the content, format and techniques to master the Core will be used. This test prep course may include other Core areas per student need.

Prerequisites: Admission to EPP or GTCP.

Restrictions: Enrollment limited to students in the College of Educ Human Dev college.

EDFR 3110  Field Lab Residency I

This lab course meets the TEA 30-hour field residency requirement and is designed to equip pre-service teachers with classroom observation/reflection experiences in the field. Assignments within the course prepare students for certification as well as their clinical teaching experience. The course must be successfully completed prior to participation in clinical teaching. Restriction(s): Enrollment is limited to students formally admitted to the teacher preparation program. TSI Restriction(s): Reading, Math, and Writing

EDFR 3120  Field Lab Residency II

This lab course requires 30-hours of field residency requirement and is designed to equip pre-service teachers with classroom observation/reflection/participation in the field. Assignments within the course prepare students for certification as well as their clinical teaching experience. The course must be successfully completed prior to participation in clinical teaching. EDFR 4310  Clinical Teach: Teach Res Sem1

Within this course students satisfy the first semester of Clinical Teacher Residency requirements as well as demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for successful teaching. The Teacher Residency program works in conjunction with approved and accredited district partners. Subject-specific portfolio-based assessment training and practice are embedded in this course to prepare students for EDFR 4320 in which they will be required to complete a portfolio-based assessment of their teaching performance. EDFR 4320  Secondary Clinical Teaching: Field Residency IV

Within this course students satisfy the second semester of Clinical Teacher Residency requirements as well as demonstrate the knowledge and kills necessary for successful teaching. The Teacher Residency program works in conjunction with approved and accredited district partners. Students are required to complete and submit a subject-specific portfolio-based assessment of their teaching performance. Restriction(s): Passing scores on the core content TExES exams are required for participation in clinical teaching. TSI Restriction(s): Reading, Math, and Writing

EDFR 4333  Special Topics in Education  
Credits: 3 (3-0-0)
  

Major problems and issues in the field of education will be covered. Topics addressed may include online learning design, special needs in the classroom, student assessment, initial teacher certification requirements, equity and inclusion in the classroom, and cultural competence within schools. Course may be repeated once for credit.

EDFR 4613  Elementary Clinical Teaching: Field Residency III

Students will demonstrate, in a laboratory setting, knowledge of and an ability to effectively apply those skills necessary for successful teaching in the elementary school. Student teaching is a full-time assignment for 16 weeks in an accredited elementary school. Student is to furnish transportation. TSI Restriction(s): Reading, Math, and Writing
