Program Requirements
The University Honors Program is designed to work with every major at A&M-San Antonio. In addition to the academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular expectations outlined below, Honors students are expected to maintain an overall GPA of 3.25.
The requirements of the Honors program are built around academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular experiences such as successful completion of Honors courses, Honors-contract work completed in select courses, internships, leadership opportunities, and campus and community activities. These experiences are tabulated annually using a points system. Students may customize their Honors experience through their choices of points-generating activities, although certain activities are required.
First-year students are required to take the Honors Seminar (HONR 1300) in their first semester, which replaces the UNIV 1301 requirement. New transfer students must complete one of two options: 1) Complete the Advanced Honors Seminar (HONR 3300) course, or 2) complete an Honors Contract research project. All Honors students are required to complete HONR 4000 (Honors Capstone), a portfolio course, in their final semester.
A detailed description of Honors program requirements can be found on the Honors website.
